Monobenzone 20% Cream - Day 18

My skin is looking a little bit drier then usual but I didnt want to complicate everything by adding a moisturizer to my regime.

The only thing I am noticing is the my skin is starting look like it needs to be exfoliated. I don't know how to explain it but I have used glycolic acid in the past and a few days later my skin just looks like it wants to peel.

My Skin Wants To Peel

I am not going to manually try to make myself peel because I don't want to risk scarring my skin but Ill give it some time. The smell of this cream is not my favorite because it doesnt smell like waterfalls (lol) but more like an medicated product. I have to get over that.

I am so used to using products like normaderm which smelled beautiful! Anyway, my skin isnt showing signs of distress or redness - just dryness. I was thinking about adding retin-a to my regime but someone on a forum told me not to because this may cause a bad reaction.

I Have to Stop Being Impatient With Skin Care Products

Before I try to speed this up I have to remember that this is a seriously strong product and not to try and add other active ingredients in the mix or I might regret it.

Right now I will compare my face to my chest because my chest is a LOT lighter then my face and Ill know whether its working. It's too soon to tell so I will not give up on this Mono cream.

Listen hun patience is important now, that how mono works, if you chose to use it ,you must know that you will be patchy for sometime. I don't advice you to switch to mequinal it is weaker than mono, it will not work as fast.

as it is working on your face, a lot of people say the face get depiged fast, what you can do to speed it up use retin a 1 hour before applying mono, it will sure speed it up

SO with her post being said
maybe adding a little Retin-A before mono use
might help with your skin peeling.
Also sea salt baths in warm water work great for skin shedding.

  2. Hi Sara,

Thanks for the advice. I have used retin a before with hydroquinone and it didnt make me peel but it did make my skin irritated. I am too scared to add retin a to mono even an hour before lol

  3. Hello Sunshine
I am not Sara,I was just quoting her seeing that see is another long term user.
I just started using mono myself so I've been re-reading a lot of older posts on their experiences.
    I found another poster:

Please do NOT mix your mono with retin A. Mono should NOT be mixed with any other actives ! You can apply retin A 1 or 2 hours after your mono application, and only use retin A at night. I have friends who mix their mono in different lotions and all of them have started to see something (lighter, spots, etc.) within 3 or 4 months. Disolving mono and blending mono with other bases well is the key point regardless of what you're mixing it with. NO OTHER ACTIVES should be mixed with mono.

so as you can see both long term users seem to think Retin A is a good green light to use.
If Retin A irritated your skin may I suggest using Skin Nouveau Carotein Lightening and Fading Gel Cream.
It's getting rave reviews on skin lighting boards as an alternative to Retin A.
It can be found at any local black beauty store.
